Kosmos: Käärmesormus
The Heartland of an Ancient Forest (6:42)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
in the heartland of an ancient forest
fairies dance under the trees
I see many paths meet
I see the birth of light and shadow
in the heartland of an ancient forest
pretty fairies invite me to the dance
I see a flower, grass soaked by the rain
when a new voice turns my head to the wind
no-one is leaving
no-one is left behind
on the last road
everything will become clear
if you want to know the truth
dance a walz with the fairies
that walz transcends boundaries
deep inside the secrets of the mind
I heard this in a song of a little bird
and it made me believe in miracles
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals
Ismo Virta: guitar, mellotron, ksylofon, organ
Who Can Remember (3:51)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
who can remember who gave knowledge to mankind
the creator´s note rings everywhere
a thought is like a dream
an incomprehensible realm of the mind
the ruler of the hidden consiousness
the possessor of the human mind
every tree in the forest
and the marrowbone of a wild animal
the bright sun in the sky and the full moon at night
a human child in the cradle or maybe something else
who can remember who gave knowledge to mankind
the creator´s note rings everywhere
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals
Kimmo Lähteenmäki: piano
Sini Palokangas: saxophone
Ismo Virta: guitar, mellotron, piano, organ, effects
Old Karma (3:30)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
there is black there is white
there is holy there is everyday life
there is right there is wrong
who knows, who decides
this day and tomorrow
life and death
the longing will remain, will life remain
even beautiful flowers wither
fade away when death falls in love with them
is reality certain
I continue on my journey atoning old karma
whispering from the deep
quietly, silently
from beyond knowledge, faith, hope
from beyond the dawn of time
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals
Sini Palokangas: violin
Ismo Virta: guitar, bass guitar, ksylofon, organ, mellotron
Deja Vu (3:02)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
this delusion of emptiness
the dim lights of the twilight
the dark nighttime streets sleeping
the sky is empty but brighter than the sun
this delusion of emptiness
surrounded by a quiet garden of the angels
on a journey to Ixtland there is such a warm and calm summer
the humid foggy summer nights seduce me like sirens seduce their victims
I meet them with the eyes of my soul
the shadows of myself will have to recede
on the way to Ixtland there will be freedom
sweet faith, deja vu
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals
Ismo Virta: guitar, organ, mellotron, ksylofon
The Wind Is Blowing Through Me (4:45)
(Traditional)
Made in the air is my road that I see
All my footsteps, taken with me
Left behind all pathways long winding
Wind has blown inside of me
Could we care less, how indifferent are we
of human ways and where they will lead?
Behind the surface of mirrors, I live
Cannot see myself where I stand
Smile on my face I have awaken to see
Others sleeping all around me
The doors of dreams are endlessly open
Roads of plenty lie before me
Will I awake or remain in my sleep?
Won't my journey nowhere lead?
I won't turn back the way I came here
If I do, I don't dream anymore
Made in the air is my road that I see
All my footsteps, taken with me
Left behind all pathways long winding
Wind has blown inside of me
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals

A Snake Ring (6:07)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
in the shrouds of the mist rising from the depthsa snake ring on my finger I am on my way
one eye is red, the other one glows green
a snake ring on my finger I am on my way
a golden ring whispering the eternal truth
ideas and utopias, the shadow images of knowledge
in and out, from hell to heaven and back again
body and soul, the avatars of the mind
in and out, from hell to heaven and back again
when two eyes close the third one opens
and the cosmic knowledge flows into the consiousness
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals
Kimmo Lähteenmäki: drums
Sini Palokangas: violin
Kari Riihimäki: guitar
Olli Valtonen: shrutibox
Ismo Virta: mellotron, guitar, bass guitar
The Garden of Forbidden Fruit (5:48)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
the scent of innocence
the lost understanding
the garden of forbidden fruit
the cradle of life
the art of dreaming
untouched undying time passing by
will the water flow
will the wind rise
will the fire burn
will the earth disappear
who will still the waters
who will calm the wind
who will put out the fire
who will save the world
the power of silence
the fire from within
the garden of forbidden fruit
Juha Kulmala: reading
Päivi Kylmänen: vocals

Sini Palokangas: saxophone
Ismo Virta: mellotron, guitar, bass guitar, piano
Kellokoski (a mental hospital) (7:59)
(music and arr. Virta/words Valtonen)
in the early hours of the morning,
when the wardens are not yet present,
one may sense and dream of the possibility of freedom
but the gloomy shadows of thick iron bars
stamp a seal of reality on the shell of a person imprisoned inside the mind
under the rays of the morning sun reflected on the western wing I felt like smoking,
but I had forgotten my cigarettes on the large table nailed to the floor
in the main hall, last night while the night call was already echoing
during the recreation hour, if the wardens allow it, you can trace by hand the embossed patterns
of an ancient wallpaper under a thin layer of white latex paint
the harshness of the corridors between the different wards
and the distorted reflections in the large mirrored glasses hanging on the walls
tell of restlesness, and when I looked at myself from the ceiling
I realized my inabilities and the contradictions of my existence
I cannot escape
I am bound to a foreign skin
to a completely different body
the straightjacket is tight
